One question we often find ourselves answering here at abandoned vehicles is how the Police are involved in our process. The answer is that it varies depending on the abandoned vehicles in question. Initially of course we always ensure the vehicle is actually classified as abandoned. Here is a usefully blog that will help you do this before you have to call one of the team.

The abandoned vehicles we work to remove are a potential risk not only to your business but also to our field teams. To ensure the vehicle is not a hazard one of the first things we do is take out a full risk assessment of the vehicle in question. Once this is done there is still a high probability that the vehicle has been involved in criminal activity.

At stage two of every removal it is in our process to contact both the police service and the DVLA ensuring all checks are made for theft and involvement of criminal activities the involvement of the authorities ceases. This is to ensure we are following the strict procedures needed in order to legally remove the vehicle in question.

If the vehicle has not been removed once checks have taken place and no contact has been made with the registered keeper we will then re-attend site with a tow truck and get the vehicle in question removed from your property.

The police and other authorities tend to aid us when we need them rather than oversee any works undertaken. However, the Police along side local authorities are always at hand to ensure we are following the correct process.
